As a child I attended the Kid’s Ministry at Hope for the Island. I won’t forget the time when Kuya Derek and Ate Jenn came here in my town of Burgos. I would always watch them from a far and follow them. Slowly I have more courage to approach them. It is not an accident that God allowed me to meet them. God has a plan in it all. Even when I am 14 years old I attend Kids Ministry. I am not shy to attend even though I am the oldest. I started to assist with the other kids before there was an assistant program.
When I was 15-16 years old I started to attend the youth gatherings at Hope for the Island. I would spend a lot of time there because I enjoyed the programs and liked to assist them. When I graduated high school I wanted to go to college but was unable to go because my family has no money. They were planning to send me to Manila. That was not God’s plan. God had a greater plan! One of Hope for the Island leaders talked to my family and opened the opportunity for me to be trained to be an assistant teacher in the preschool. That is the time I joined Hope for the Island family and I’m so thankful to God for His goodness in my life. I would never expect that one day I would be a part of reaching out with God’s love to the kids of my community and others communities. I am now the one leading Kid’s ministry and equipping youth to assist us.
Thank you Lord for using me in your way and for your glory. I thank God for using the life of Kuya Derek and Ate Jenn and the staff of Hope for the Island. Thank you for your lives and service. Through you I come to know Jesus! I hold dearly to all that God has done in my life and pray He alone in honoured.
