  • False Doctrine

In Youth Ministry we have been teaching about the importance of reading and studying God’s Word. The youth leaders have created contests and incentives for youth who are getting into their Bibles. Getting teenagers to wake up early in the morning to read their Bible is never easy in any culture.

There has been a recent flood of false teaching coming through our area, which has raised a lot of questions. Although some youth have been led astray, many others were challenged to dig into the Word of God for truth.  God is using these trials to draw those who are His closer to Him. (more…)

  • Nermilyn’s Testimony

As a child I attended the Kid’s Ministry at Hope for the Island.  I won’t forget the time when Kuya Derek and Ate Jenn came here in my town of Burgos.  I would always watch them from a far and follow them.  Slowly I have more courage to approach them.  It is not an accident that God allowed me to meet them.  God has a plan in it all.  Even when I am 14 years old I attend Kids Ministry. I am not shy to attend even though I am the oldest.  I started to assist with the other kids before there was an assistant program.

  • Youth Ministries

We always try to keep things fresh and new with the youth because it is easy for them to get bored and distracted by influences in town.  There are many youth that surprise us because although shy in personality they are bold when it comes to the Lord.  Many are an encouragement and example to the others by the way they share testimony during our fellowship time.  When youth share their insights from the Word or pray during our time together or for others it challenges those who are observing.  There are some that have been attending for so long but never seem to respond.  Sometimes we can feel discouraged or that they are not listening.  Even if they are a distraction sometimes, we always welcome them and pray for them.  Last week we were encouraged to never give up because one male youth who has come for a long time finally accepted Christ!  We thank God for the opportunity to share His love that we encountered and to praise Him. • Joan’s Testimony

I  am grateful to God for His hand in my life.  When I was only 7 years old my parents left me with my grandparents.  It is very hard time to accept my parents leaving especially hard because I was treated badly.  The older I got the worse things became.  Then my grandma died.  Even though she is harsh with me I still loved her and missed her when she pass away.  People in the village told me that it is my fault that she died.  I felt so sad and all alone and even the comfort I expected from my aunty and friends wasn’t there because they also say I am to blame.  I really didn’t understand why but it affected me so much.

    The Testimony of a Child

God is good in the lives of the children in the area I visited in our neighbouring village of Burgos.  They are always eager to learn more.  Sometimes they feel bad if they cannot answer some of the questions during Bible study.  They really have a heart to learn more about Jesus and his Word.  They ask for more Bible verses to memorize.  This has also reflected in positive changes in their life despite not having homes where they are encouraged in their faith.  Some share stories of how they try to follow God’s Word and encourage their parents to do the same.  Most often it is not well received but they continue to shine their little lights! Some kids share of how other kids mock them when they carry their Bible to Kid’s ministry, but they say that they don’t care.  They are learning at a young age to please God not man which is important because so often people are drawn and seek after the praise of man.
