Every year it is a heartbreaking reality that those families we minister to may experience the death of a loved one. It can be due to a variety of illnesses or diseases.
One particular girl named Indy in Kid’s Ministry asked for prayer for her mother Narda. One of our Hope for the Island staff followed up and was shocked when she visited their home and saw how thin the woman had become. This woman and her husband chop and sell fire wood. The rain and bad weather has made it difficult to get wood and then dry it. In addition to this, the mother claims that she has only slept a few hours in the last three months.
As part of our Mercy Ministry, we provided funds for a checkup and gave her some of our dehydrated vegetable mix to add to a coconut milk soup. Vitamins suitable to her needs were also given to help restore her health.
Please pray for this mom; her kids need her to get better. Her prayer is that her body will recover quickly so she can return to work to help her family survive. Recently we have seen some improvement. She is now able to walk and eat without pain.
We ask you to uphold this family in your prayers. Indy believes in the power of prayer and our prayer is that these parents would know God’s love and His power as they are faced with the daily challenges of raising a family in the midst of poverty.
Many families are struggling right now, especially those who rely on the Copra harvest for their livelihood. Copra is the dried white flesh of the coconut from which coconut oil isextracted. The current price for one kilo of copra is 13 pesos. One dollar equals approximately 40 pesos. It is difficult for many to even buy a bag of rice after expenses. The price of coconut is is very low right now and we pray for it to go up.
