Makana’s Testimony

My name is Makana and this is my testimony. When I was in my mother’s womb, my mom and dad moved to the Philippines. My parents were building the mission house and this flu was going around. My dad was working really hard and his body got too tired. He got a bad disease called M.R.S.A, which is the worst form of staff infection. My dad had boils all over and he was really skinny. My mom and dad felt they should go back to Canada for my delivery and also to get better care for my dad.

In Canada, November 21, 2001, I was born. My parents said I was the most beautiful thing they ever saw. After further testing about my father’s sickness they found out that if my dad touched me when I was born I could have died – his disease was really contagious to newborns and elderly people.  God really helped me in that situation and He still does help me now.

One night when I was ten years old I had a dream of a girl who was wearing a white t-shirt. Our housekeeper Ate Vangie was trying to wash out the stains but she couldn’t.  Then a man came and took the shirt and washed it, and the stains went away. The next day I told my parents about my dream. They said the man in my dream was just like Jesus and He was the only one who could wash our sins away. Even if we try hard to be good by ourselves, we never can be, we still make mistakes and sin.

After I understood my dream I realized I didn’t really love God. Although I prayed to Jesus in preschool, I didn’t really love God the way I should. I ran to my parents’ room and told them how I felt. My mom told me to sit on the bed with them and after talking for a while I prayed to Jesus and accepted Him in my heart.  I understood what it meant to make Him Lord over my life.

I love helping in ministry with Hope for the Island and serving the people in need.  When I was eleven I went to Hawaii. I attended Doris Todd Christian Academy – I was in grade 5. This school helps me grow in Jesus. I go to church at Hope Chapel. Hope Chapel is a good church to go to when you are still new with God. So I thank Hope Chapel and Doris Todd Christian Academy for helping me grow in the Lord.
