False Doctrine

In Youth Ministry we have been teaching about the importance of reading and studying God’s Word. The youth leaders have created contests and incentives for youth who are getting into their Bibles. Getting teenagers to wake up early in the morning to read their Bible is never easy in any culture.

There has been a recent flood of false teaching coming through our area, which has raised a lot of questions. Although some youth have been led astray, many others were challenged to dig into the Word of God for truth.  God is using these trials to draw those who are His closer to Him.

One of these groups did a medical mission, a magic show and gave very nice prizes for attendees.  Many people flocked to see and hear what was happening.  This group held a Bible study and sang nice songs and claimed to be a Christian group, all the while never mentioning anything about Jesus. They taught about all the dos and donts to earn standing with God.

The youth that attend our ministry in the nearby village of BayBay were really affected and had a lot of questions.  Many of the youth even started attending the newly started “Bible” studies, having no idea what this group believes.  They failed to see that what was being taught contrasted with Scripture.  After a while however they were confused why Jesus was never talked about.  It seemed that the focus for favor with God had to do with works that conflicted with what they understood through God’s Word.

It was a lot for these 13-15 year olds to process.  During our regularly scheduled outreach in BayBay Jing gave them assignments. She gave them verses to read and study and asked them to journal what they understood it to mean. We encourage the youth to study the Word of God for themselves rather than believe what anyone will say including us.

God’s Word is always the filter for everything we hear or read.  Every time Jing gathers with the youth they can openly discuss what they have uncovered in the Bible.  The youth are looking to God for answers and growing in their faith as a result.

Our young teenagers need your prayers more than ever to find the answers in their Bible.  Great things can happen when youth are challenged in their faith.
